Ark offers comprehensive veterinary care services including: preventive care, dentistry, radiology, ultrasound, surgery, cold laser therapy, hospitalization, nutritional counseling, senior medicine, internal medicine, wellness programs and more.
Anna K. Maxwell, D.V.M.
Dr. Anna Maxwell was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and grew up traveling all over the world as military families do. She graduated from the Columbus State University with a B.S. in Biology and moved to Gainesville to work as a biological scientist at the University of Florida. She spent three years doing liver research under the direction of Dr. Meyer.
In 1993 she received her D.V.M. degree from the University of Florida. There she was awarded the Wilson Scholarship in1991 and the Summer Research Training Award in 1990. During her senior year she attended the University of Washington, studying Laboratory Animal Medicine.
Prior to coming to Ark Animal Hospital, she practiced small animal medicine in her hometown of Gainesville. Although she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, as well as reptilian medicine.
Dr. Maxwell resides in St Augustine.

Rachel Nuttall, D.V.M.
Dr. Rachel Nuttall, D.V.M., joined Ark in January 2019 after moving to Florida from the greater Boston area.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Tulane University in New Orleans. She then completed her D.V.M. at Colorado State University.
After vet school Dr. Nuttall completed an internship working with racehorses in New Jersey. From there she moved with her husband to Boston where she transitioned to working in small animal medicine. Although she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine her special interests include Dentistry, Pediatrics and Geriatric care.
She and her family made the move to Jacksonville in December of 2018 to be closer to their extended family. She lives in St Johns with her husband, daughter, 2 Boxers, Sphynx cat and horse!
